THE BASICS
Getting Started
What is Feltz Digital?
Feltz Digital is a solo digital services practice led by Wes, a software developer and tech consultant with nearly 20 years of experience building systems for enterprise and government clients. The focus is helping small businesses in Montgomery County and the DC Metro area build a clean, professional online presence without unnecessary complexity or agency overhead.
What makes Feltz Digital different from other web design companies?
You’re working directly with the person who has the experience — not a salesperson who hands your project to a junior designer. Years of hands-on work on large enterprise software systems means you get the kind of quality and reliability that larger agencies charge a premium for, at pricing that actually makes sense for a local business.
Do I own my website, domain, and content?
Yes — completely. Your domain is registered in your name, your hosting account is in your name, and your website files belong to you. I configure everything under your ownership from day one. There’s no lock-in, no proprietary platform, and nothing to transfer if you ever decide to move on.
What if I already have a website?
Not a problem. I can work with an existing site, rebuild it, or help you understand what’s actually worth keeping. Some older sites just need a cleanup; others are better replaced from scratch. I’ll give you an honest read on which situation you’re in before recommending anything.
Can I use my existing domain name?
Yes. I’ll connect your existing domain to the new site as part of the setup process. If you don’t have one yet, I can help you register it — and it stays in your name either way.
What if I already pay for hosting or website services?
We can work with what you have or help you transition to something better. If your current hosting is overpriced or underperforming, I’ll let you know — but I won’t push you to switch just to create a dependency.
THE PROCESS
How It Works
What platform do you build on?
WordPress, using the Blocksy theme and Gutenberg block editor. This combination gives you a fast, flexible, well-supported site that you can update yourself. WordPress powers over 40% of the web, has a huge support community, and isn’t going anywhere.
Do I need to know how to code?
No. WordPress is built so that everyday people can manage their own content without touching code. I’ll make sure the site is set up so basic updates — changing text, adding photos, updating business info — don’t require my help.
Do you only work with local businesses?
Montgomery County and the DC Metro area are my primary focus — I know the local market, the competition, and what helps businesses get found here. That said, the work is remote-friendly and I take on projects from outside the area when the fit is right.
How long does it take to build a website?
It depends on the scope and how quickly content is ready, including text, photos, and key business details. A simple website can often be ready within about a week of kickoff, while larger projects take longer. In most cases, the biggest variable is how quickly we can exchange information and finalize content, not the build itself. I can give you a clearer timeline after a quick discussion.
How many pages can my site have?
There is no hard limit. Most small business websites start with a focused set of core pages, then grow from there if needed. If your business needs more space to explain services, locations, FAQs, or resources, I can scope that clearly and price it accordingly.
MAINTENANCE & SUPPORT
After Launch
Do you offer ongoing support?
Yes. Monthly care plans keep your site updated, secure, and backed up. Higher plans add content edits and priority support, and the most hands-on plans extend to your whole online presence — Google Business Profile, local SEO, and social posts. Some clients hand off everything; others just want occasional help — there’s no pressure to sign up if you don’t need it.
Can I update the website myself after launch?
Yes — that’s by design. The site is built so you can update text, swap images, and manage basic content without needing a developer. If you want a walkthrough, I’m happy to do a WordPress training session as part of the project.
What if my business grows and I need more later?
No problem. WordPress scales well, and the sites I build are designed to grow with you. Adding pages, updating services, expanding into SEO management, or eventually adding social media management — all of that is possible without starting from scratch.
What other digital services do you offer beyond web design?
In addition to website design, I also offer local SEO, hosting support, Google Business Profile setup, WordPress training, and ongoing website care. The goal is to help small businesses handle the practical digital pieces that support a strong online presence.
PRICING & FIT
Pricing & Expectations
What should I expect when it comes to pricing?
Pricing depends on the scope of the work, but the goal is always to keep it clear, practical, and aligned with what your business actually needs. I work with a range of project sizes and budgets, and after a quick discussion I’ll provide a straightforward quote so you know exactly what to expect before anything begins.
What additional costs should I expect?
Domain registration is usually a separate cost, and some projects may also involve hosting, premium plugins, stock photos, or other third-party tools depending on what the site needs. In some cases, hosting is paid directly by the client; in others, it may be managed through Feltz Digital as part of an ongoing plan. Either way, I’ll flag any additional costs clearly before they become part of the project.
Why are your prices more affordable than most agencies?
Agencies carry overhead — offices, sales teams, account managers, and junior staff on your project. Working with me directly means you’re not paying for any of that. The tradeoff is capacity: I take on a limited number of projects at a time to make sure each one gets the attention it deserves.
What kinds of projects are NOT a good fit?
Feltz Digital is a strong fit for small businesses that need a clean, professional website, local SEO, hosting support, and ongoing digital help. I’m best suited for practical web and online presence work rather than large ecommerce builds, enterprise platforms, or heavily custom web applications. If your needs are adjacent to that, feel free to ask — I’m happy to tell you whether it’s a fit.
I’m skeptical. What’s the catch?
There isn’t one. The goal is simply to offer capable, straightforward digital help without the layers and overhead that often come with a larger agency. You work directly with me, get a clear recommendation, and know what to expect before anything begins.
Do you offer discounts?
Discounts may be available for nonprofits, veterans, and students. Ask when you reach out and I’ll let you know what applies to your situation.
